The evidences which are collected from worldwide infected cases show us that the coronavirus was starting human-to-human transfer outside the PRC since last week.

In Chicago, a husband was infected by his wife who was returning from PRC two weeks ago and it is the first human-to-human transfer case in USA. He was travelling to Ohio several days ago with no syndrome of infection until two days ago he got a fever. We do not know whom he was contacting during his trip to Ohio. A further investigation is still on going to trace down the contacted peoples. However, it is a hard job in this case and no one can guarantee its outcomes and consequences.

In Hong Kong, an old man who was traveling from HK to Japan on a cruising trip was confirmed that he was infected by coronavirus after his returning. It was believed that he might not being infected in PRC but he was infected in Hong Kong local community.  We still do not know how many people could be infected in the cruise ship.

In Canada, a Chinese oversea student who was returning from Wuhan PRC to Ontario last week was initially misdiagnosed by the local hospital as a non-infected person, but later she was tested positive by the national microbiology laboratory in Winnipeg. This story shows us that the coronavirus testing device has its limitation on accuracy. It may give us a wrong testing result and misleads us to believe that we are in a good safe shape but actually it leads us to the edge of cliff.
More and more evidences show us that our current Medical Emergency Alert System was failing completely on this highly infectious disease. When we found out an infected case, it was already too late to stop the spreading.

A YouTube video token by a Wuhan resident named Fang Bin, shows a fact that eight to thirteen dead bodies were dropped in a van every two hours by a Wuhan local hospital. That gives us a clue that the death toll is almost 672 (8x12x7) per hospital since last week. The death toll is over 14,000 by our analysis. There are 30 hospitals in Wuhan so what is the total number of death? We have no official answer yet. However, it is believed that the total number of infected persons is close to 150 thousands. This figure is based on the infectious rate of returning citizens of worldwide countries including USA, Taiwan, German, France, Japan and South Korean.

The death toll that was provided by PRC can not be trusted, they are not telling the truth as we all know the bad credit history of the Communist government of PRC. As a result, we can not count on their provided information and methods of resolution. We need to take some actions on our own.

The outbreak is likely coming soon and we are forced to the edge of cliff, but are we ready yet? If we are not prepared now seriously then we will be fall off the cliff soon very likely.

God Bless!

The death toll of Covid 19 is passing 15000 in China PRC recently but the story is not ended yet. The PRC medical system  is likely collapsing sooner or later and they still have no solutions or in anyway to stop the virus spreading except completely sealing the cities for the good sake.

Last week the communist leaders urged the people to go back to work for Economic Growth reason but it is causing more chaos in the country and the conflicts between employers  and the employees are shaken.

Looking at the west, nothing is optimistic that Italy and Iran are just getting into a big trouble. Both countries are started in an outbreak of Convid 19 virus last weekend. It is only several days passed but the death toll is skyrocketing proportioning to its total number of infected cases.

Many countries are still not preparing for the invasion of the virus and it is believed that they do not even have medical capabilities to tackle such a big medical disaster.

The prospect of the death toll is not thousands anymore and it could be millions more.

It will have serious impact on world economy soon and we should be preparing for the economic crisis too.

A sailor parade that was held on September 28, 1918, took away 12 thousands lives two weeks after that was happening during the Spanish flu outbreak in city Philadelphia. Over forty five thousands people got infected by the deadly virus within several weeks!

Six months later, 16 thousands people were dead in total and over half million people were sick by the virus in Philadelphia area.

It kills 675 thousands people in USA, and 50 millions in global.

Should we take it seriously this time or just don’t care?!

The new flu virus which was discovered by Wuhan Hospital doctors two months ago now has speeded out over the whole country in Mainland China(PRC). It was confirmed that it is human to human transferable. Several people have died. Its characteristics has been proved to be 70% identical to the Hong Kong SARS that broke out 17 years ago.

More than 300 cases have been reported across the cities including Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Beijing and Shanghai. The international health organization believes that the real total number of cases should be much more than the reported number by the Wuhan local government. It could be over 1700 cases.

The bad new is that the Chinese New Year is starting this week. Hundreds and thousands migrant workers are going home for new year’s celebration that will seriously add more pressure on disease control. It is believed that the virus will spread out even widely when those people are traveling within the country.

A few affected cases also were reported in overseas includingThailand, South Korea and Japan. It is expected that more cases are coming from everywhere in next several weeks and months. Until now, the authority still does not know the primary source of the virus.

There is no difference between LEFT JOIN and LEFT OUTER JOIN, they are exactly same.

There are mainly 3 types of joins at the top level:
1.  INNER
2.  OUTER (left join, right join and full outer join)
3.  CROSS INNER JOIN - Includes only matching rows on both tables

OUTER JOIN have three types:
LEFT JOIN - Join Includes all rows from the left table regardless of whether a match exists, and matching rows from the right table
RIGHT JOIN - Includes all the rows from the right table regardless of whether a match exists, and matching rows from the left table.
FULL OUTER JOIN - Includes all the rows from both tables regardless of whether a match exists

CROSS JOIN, as the name suggests, does [n X m] that joins everything to everything. Similar to scenario where we simply lists the tables for joining (in the FROM clause of the SELECT statement), using commas to separate them. Eg. 10x17=170 rows.

Point to be noted: If you just mention JOIN then by default it is a INNER JOIN.

We listed total 16 issues that are related to bad practice of .net programming:

1. Coupling Issues

    - OOD is a good design but sometimes it is causing Code Dependency Issue on maintenance. When we change one function, it may cause other "sister" functions non-functioning.

    - Too many classes and functions are depending on each other. Modifying one effects all. It is hard to debug the depending issue.

    - All those methods and classes are server side objects. They consume memories and resources.

2. Using Too Many Third Party DLL(s)

    - Third party DLL(s) are not your codes. They can be a trouble after a certain time.

    - They could be running on different framework version rather than your one. That is causing a compatible issue.

    - They could be buggy

    - They could have some security issues that you may never know (or maybe the creators do not know neither)

3. Confusion On File Naming.

    - Carelessly naming files, pages, folders, projects without a good naming policy. It is too hard to understand the meaning of objects by names.

    - Using too many Abbreviations of naming that does not make sense.

    - Using a single word as a folder's name that is a nightmare. When we do a search, it comes out hundreds single name on result list.

    -

4. Time Delay On Loops - do while, for each, for and so on.

    - Looping hundreds times on DB queries. The more time it spends on DB queries, the more chance of data table deadlock it will get

    - Forgot to break the loop after the program got what it needs

    - Define a new object inside a loop then an object have been created for n times.

5. Too many logical processes implemented on the Stored Procedures in SQL

    - Logical Processes should be done on the Frontend programing. It should never be done on the SQL server. The save and update processes are locking the data tables.

    - It likely causes a RACE condition.

6. Names and variables are hard coded on backend

    - The hard coded fixed Variables on backend is a bad idea. It is hard for maintenance.

    -  They should be on Configuration file

7. Abusing Server Side Memory - Session ID

     - Putting tons info on Session ID that uses too much server-side memory

     - Session ID is a server side variable

     - MVC is consuming a lot of server side memory

8. View State is too long

     - Browser will take longer time to read View State Info

9. Too many JS and HTML errors:

    - JavaScript is a powerful script for client side programming. However, it may not be compatible with the new browser.

    - Browser generates too many html errors that slows down the performance

10. Calling third party web services takes too long on responding.

    - Need to setup a time-out mechanism; drop after three attempts.

11. DB connection - Forgot to stop the connections after job was done.

     - Forgot to handle the DB exceptions

     - ADO.net Store Procedures most time is faster than "LINQ with Entity Framework" on DB queries

12. Too many table joins on Stored Procedures

    - Get too many redundant data from DB tables

    - Too many temp tables on one big SP and forgot to drop it after used

    - Programming logic should be left on the Frontend layer, not in DB layer. Try to keep DB queries as simple as possible

13. No Documentation

    - Programmers forgot to write down the document of the functions.

    - Other people do not understand the codes.

    - Maintenance Issue

14. Writing codes too complicated so no one can understand it.

    - If a program that most people can NOT understand it then it is a garbage. It will have no development in future.

15. Avoid caching techniques

    - Caching improves the performance but it creates an update issue at same time - New data is not updated sometimes.

16. Forgot to use indexer for tables. Both clustered and non clustered indexers can be used for performance improvement.

   - Execution plan, Profiler and normalization to see the performance

   - Using SQL functions to improve the performance

The communist China is owned by the CCP(Chinese Communist Party)! All businesses are linking to the CCP! That is what Communism means and this rule is never being changed since the first day it shows up! There are no such a thing so called private company that can be 100% operated by itself in China! A pure intact private company does not exist in Communist China - that is the fact!

Most western governments are fooled by the propaganda of communist party for years! The CCP told everyone that they are not influencing the Chinese mainland companies but in fact they are the undercover true owners of all Chinese big companies in mainland! They just lied to all of us!

The Huawei company is not an exception and it has a long connection history with the chinese military PLA! If we are using the Huawei 5G or any of their products that will be no different to us just like using the products of PLA! In that circumstance, we will be monitored by its government and by its dictatorial values and rules! That is extremely dangerous to every country’s national security!

It is not a business issue but it is a national security issue! That is why Huawei must be banned and limited in western countries! It is also believed that almost all companies which are listed on US stock markets are related to the CCP! Be aware!

Today, the Supreme Court carried out a 7-2 vote to state that the asylum seekers have no such rights to present their cases to the federal courts under the Constitution.

The asylum seekers have no rights to adopt protections for so-called “habeas corpus” petitions, which typically seek release from detention.

This vote result could allow the US immigration law enforcement to remove the asylum seekers quickly when they have found no evidence that is relating to a person who is believed to be prosecuted by his/her home government.

On a recent research report, as more and more evidences show us that most asylum seekers come to US are just for a better working environment.  Very few of them are truly prosecuted by their own governments. Almost none of those cases are involved in a life threatening situation!

This vote result may block a loophole of current immigration system that someone may use it as an excuse to abuse the imperfection of asylum system.

The Hong Kong National Security Law gives Chinese officers and Hong Kong polices a totally unsupervised judicial power that they can arrest and prosecute anyone who is expressing anti-government speech, involving on Anti-Communist acts and speaking anything that the government does not like!

The Administrative Judges that are chosen by CCP can sentence anyone who is breaking the law from min five years to max life time in jail and this judicial decision will be the final and it can not be reviewed by the judicial review system! That means it will be not allowed a fair hearing to be in Hong Kong in future when a person is prosecuted by the National Security Law! The Hong Kong Supreme Court has no rights to interrupt the decision that is made by the CCP’s administrative judge!

It is believed that this new law is overwriting the Hong Kong Basic Law (The Hong Kong Institution). The “one country two systems” political and legal structure of current Hong Kong Gov will be abandoned from now on! The Hong Kong (HKSAR) is officially becoming an ordinary city of Communist China! Under this law, Hong Kong will be no different from any other cities in Mainland China!

All foreigners who are living in Hong Kong will be treated as same way as the local people! The law is applied to everyone including tourists and temporary residents !

It is believed that this is the end of Hong Kong special autonomy region! Human rights, democracy and freedom are too expensive to Hong Kong people that all those basic rights and essentials can not be purchased by money!

Goodbye Hong Kong and Thank You !

You guys are awakening the world! We saw everything they did !

Long live the Freedom and Democracy!

We just heard some newspapers reporting that a cell phone could be hacked when it was plugged into a public usb charging outlet in the airports and some locations.

This information may not be true unless the airport company is intentionally to do it. To retrieve data from a cell phone, it needs a receiver device. It also requires an auto executable application which is running on the background. The theory is just like that we plug in a phone into a pc. The pc will auto retrieve data from the phone. But, a outlet is not a pc. A regular USB charger is not capable to do a work like that.

iPhone has a software side protection mechanism. When an iPhone was plugged into a usb charger or a PC, it was protected by the privacy setting of IOS. If a data transfer happens, it will pop up an authorization message to request the owner’s permission before a data transfer happens. This permission can be done on the phone only. The old version of iPhone has no such protection but the new iPhone OS has it. You should update your iPhone firmware if you have not done yet.

However, we suspect that the “juice jacking” likely happens when two phones are connected to the same parallel ports. One phone was acted as a receiver which receives data from the other phone through the connection. In theory, it is possible to do that.

To prevent such jacking happening, we can buy a special designed usb cable which is called usb data blocker. It removes two data exchanging wires from the usb cable.
If anyone is interested in the cable, you can buy it from anywhere for just $10.

If we look back the history, we will find out the communist China PRC that really has a bad credit history.

They told the world that The Republic of China (RC) does not exist but RC is still there in Taiwan. They said the RC is not a country but the RC is a real country and it is established 100 years ago.

They signed a political agreement with British government in 1984 which is called the “Sino British Joint Declaration” but after 1997 they unilaterally interpreted the Hong Kong Constitution (the Basic Law) several times. They promised that it would have a general election in 2014 but they broke the Basic Law and took away the election. They said they would not interfere the Hong Kong government autonomy but they demanded the executive of Hong Kong to pass the article 23 ( prohibition of treason against the PRC), patriotic education, national anthem law, extraordinary law, emergency law and mask prohibition law in Hong Kong. If you want to know more about the PRC, please ask the Hong Kong people - they will tell you the truth. (You definitely do not want to ask those people in/from mainland communist China because most of them are brainwashed by CCP. )

In South China Sea , they said they would not turn it into a military base but they built several fortresses islands in the disputed area.

In WTO agreement, they said they would follow the Fair  Trade rules, but it never happened.

Today, they said that they would sign a trade agreement with USA. Do you guys believe that they will keep their words and fully implement the agreement?

We doubt it!

History repeats itself.

Microsoft .Net development team finally goes back to the right track. My goodness! They have been confusing all asp.net Web Form developers for a long time. After they released .Net 4 version, they have been wondering around on MVC and Core for many years. MVC and Core are considered as complicated non-vivid solutions to Website Development!

In this year, they suddenly are awaking and announce that from now on we will have only one .net version going forward. Sigh. That is a good news. I have been waiting for asp.net 5 for many years. Thanks God. Problem is resolved. Hope it will be simple and can make the Website Technology better.

Keep in mind, a programming language will unlikely be expired and out of date. The C and C++ are 40 years old but they are still being used on everywhere! People do not abandon them but they add more and more handy codes to its library/framework to make them rich. C# and ASP.NET will be the same story and they need more our works to make them better!

Good Job! Guys.

"MVC is an optional. It is not the replacement of Web Form in ASP.NET."

Reference: Matthew MacDonald, pro asp.net 4 in c#. Appress. 2010.

My case study on MVC4 and Web Form(WF):

As a .NET programmer for 15 years, I have been working on all .NET versions from 1.0 to 4.0. The important thing I learnt is "the simple solution is the best solution". Obviously, the MVC is not a simple solution (Its complexity is getting worse with Razor view engine in v4/v5):

1. Spaghetti coding style: that is as horrible as classic asp. When the page getting bigger, it will be too hard to read. If you never work on the classic ASP before, you will never know the pain.

2. Complexity of pattern: using such a complex pattern for a UI that can be done easily with Web Form ( html, ASP controls and JS) is not efficiency on time saving

3. Coupling issue: Any part breaking on M-V-C, it will affect others, because they are three in one.

4. Design can not be viewed in VS: Hate to comply it every time when I want to see the UI. (WEB FORM content can be viewed immediately in VS.)

5. Performance issue: dynamic generating/routing the pages in runtime that gets penalty in performance. ( Taking off view state will not benefit the website performance because the data now are saving to the server side memory, it makes the server slow down. View state is very useful when we want to save some non secure info on client side)

6. Migration issue: Too many third party DLL(s),scripts and complex layers sitting on the project, when it is doing upgrading/migration, it comes out much more errors than web form. That is really pain in the *ss.

7. Security: MVC project is a library type. The whole project code is bonded into a library unit and it is allowed to connect to internet. It puts additional web.config file on the View Folder to prevent the illegal access to the views. However, when the server memory failed due to overflow, OS will try to disable some services. Server is on risk. Also, any failure occurring on validation of WCF service will increase the risk on the back-end code and DB data.

Anyway, it has its advantage: It is very good on Unit Testing. It could be better than Web Form in mobile development.

.NET Web Form has one big disadvantage, (well some people say it could be an advantage):
It gives you freedom to code what you want to code. It has no limitation on technologies that can be implemented on the code. so, it becomes a problem when codes become too complicated. Anyway, a clean coding programming is really depending on a programmer's knowledge and talent - it is just like one's bedroom: if his/her bedroom is clean and tidy then he/she likely is a clean coder. Smile | Smile | Smile | :)

If you want a clean coding then try to adopt these rules:
1. Avoid coupling coding style
2. Use three - layer pattern to separate the codes
3. Always put performance in the first place
4. Avoid using third party DLL(s)
5. Simple solution is the best solution

Anyway, .NET Web Form is a powerful technology for all type of projects and it is very easy to be migrated to new latest .NET platform with less effort (if it contains few third party DLL(s)). On multiple users platform, you should really consider the .NET Web Form (.NET WF) rather than the MVC. The .NET WF will be able to save only security data in session id on server side and leaves all on-security data with encryption on client side so that saves a lot of memory resource for the server memory and let more users connecting to the web at same time - it could be thousands and millions. MVC will be never like that because it consumes a lot of memory on server side.

The most critical issue for WF is the weakness on testing.

MVC is built on top of .NET Web Form. The Web Form 5.0 is coming out soon. It has big improvement/changes on its UI technologies and will have impact on the MVC because of that reason. Keep it in mind: MVC is not a replacement of Web Form. MVC is an optional (and WF is fundamental core in .net). Before you get into MVC, think about your time, knowledge, resource and budget first. Once you get in, you can not get out unless you dump it.

Good Luck!

(Circa 2016, the best hot powerful technologies now are HTML/CSS 5.0, Web Form5.0, JavaScript, JQuery, LINQ to SQL, ADO.net 5.0, WCF, .NET 5.0, C# 5.0 and SQL2012. Using these latest technologies, a programmer will be able to get all works done with no issues.)

Internet technology ( 12/25/2019 )

There are four standard Display Ports:

DisplayPort 1.2: Supports 4K at 60 Hz, most common 3D video formats, and has a bandwidth of 17.28 Gbps
DisplayPort 1.3: Supports 4K at 120 Hz or 8K at 30 Hz and a bandwidth of 32.4 Gbps (released 2014)
DisplayPort 1.4: Supports 8K at 60 Hz, High Dynamic Range, and a bandwidth of 32.4 Gbps (released 4/24/2014)
DisplayPort 2.0: 4k at 144hz, 10k 60hz and a max bandwidth of 77.31 Gbps (06/06/2019)

DisplayPort1.3 and up are for latest and fast 4k gaming use.

There are also three standard HDMI(S):

HDMI 1.4: Supports 4K at 24 Hz, 4K  at 30 Hz, and has a bandwidth of 10.2 Gbps
HDMI 2.0: Supports 4K at 60 Hz with later versions including High Dynamic Range capabilities, and has a bandwidth of 18 Gbps
HDMI 2.1: Supports 10K at 120 Hz, improved High Dynamic Range and enhanced Audio Return Channel, and has a max bandwidth of 48 Gbps (released 1/1/2017)

HDMI has three different cables, make sure you get the right one. HDMI 2.1 is for latest and fast 4k gaming use. It also delivers audio to your monitor.

There are two DVI(s) which are appeared in 1999:

DVI regular: DVI Dual Link, with a maximum 60 hertz/120hertz output of (2560×1600) resolution.
DVI-D ports: Support audio.

Current DVI does not support 4k. It is more for standard gaming and office work uses. As our observations, DVI is still popular for game players.
According to our observation that most smooth gamming experience for DVI connection is on setting 1600 x 900 resolution with 120 hertz.

1. What is the old Issue?
2. Why do we need them?
3. How do we resolve the problem?

In this blog, let us forget about the B-Tree, O(n), leaf, node, stack and heap. We are not going to discuss this topic in the boring academic way, instead we will look at the INDEX techniques in a realistic and practical way from work. The DB indexing is an old issue, and it should not still be confusing today.

Now, let us explain the two indexes in a real world way. Assuming that you have a book on your hand, you will see the "Table of Contents" and "Index" in the front and back. Before you read the book, you probably will go to the  "Table of Contents" to see the titles of each chapters and its corresponding page numbers. You may find the page number of the most interesting chapter on the Contents, then you will flip over to that page and read on. When you forgot something that you just read, you may just go to the "Index" on the back to find the keyword that is related to your search.

Clustered Index and Non-clustered Index in SQL are exactly similar things as the "Table of Contents" and the "Index" on a book. Clustered Index is the "Table of Contents" and the Non-clustered Index is the "Index". Clustered Index shows you all data/contents that are physically located in the Database(DB) orderly. The Non-clustered Index shows a specific keyword that is related to an entity and it is located in the DB non orderly.

Now, what is the issue? In real world scenario, if we have a small DB, then we may not concern too much about these indexing stuffs. A primary cluster index is good enough to get search done with a reasonable speed. We know that every table should have a clustered index which is the primary key for a table. But, when the DB is growing bigger and bigger, the perform issue is coming up somewhere for us to pay a serious attention. We do not want to go through the whole table for just a single data - the way just wastes time. As a result, a clustered index is not an universal solution for all so we need a Non-clustered index to get the work done.

For example, we have a huge DB that is over 10million rows. In SQL, we do a selection query to the DB like this:

eg. select last_name, first_name from table_big_head where last_name = 'Steven' and first_name = 'Smith'

The SQL tool will go through all rows one by one from the beginning to the end in an order until it reaches the row of "Seven Smith" then it stops, that is not efficient. It is not a matter when the DB is small, but it is a serious matter when DB is big. It takes extra times and efforts for searching. In this case, we need a Non-clustered Index for the search. In this example, we declared a Non-clustered index for the last_name and first_name.

eg. create nonclustered index nc_index_kitty on table_big_head(col_ln, col_fn)

The SQL software creates a shadow copy of this non-clustered index and saves it in the DB. Remember that we talked above, it is like the book "Index" so we can direct access the page with this index key. Now,  we run the same Selection Script again, this time we will directly hit the "Index" shadow copy and then it points to the specific row on the table and returns the Steven Smith to us. That is it. The job is done. This technique makes the whole DB calling process different! We do not need to go through every row for a single data but we get the data by direct accessing the location with the non-clustered index.

We have a clustered index in the table for a large group data search and the non-clustered index for the individual data search. We are allowed to create 999 non-clustered indexes on one table. The problem is resolved!

USB 2.0 transfers max 480 Gb per second.

USB 3.0 can do Max 5,000 Gb per second.

However, if you copy a lot of individual small files and images, the speed will not be much different. USB 3.0 runs fast when we are copy the big size files. That is why most time we zip up many small files into a "big ZIP file" then we copy it over to the backup devices. In that way, it will be much faster.

I was shocked by that news. How can that happen in this world? That is definitely not a natural fire. The fires are set up every where in Brazil by farmers on purpose. For sure, it must be something that is related to humans who set fires for some reason.

Someone told me that it is because farmers need more lands for growing soybeans. Hold on a second, let me think, why suddenly those famers need more lands for soybeans? Currently Brazilian produce over 80 million tons soybeans each year. That is good enough for the entire population in South America. Why they still want more?

I did a research and I found out this answer. The Chinese importers purchased 70 million tons soybeans from Brazil over last 12 months and they still want more. That pushed the soybeans price to a new level. Famers can make more profit from soybeans sale so they burn the rain forest for more lands and use them to grow the soybeans. It is that simple. Wow.

What do I call people who comment on blogs?
 Commenters?
 Commentors?
 Commentators?

Answer:

Commenters. It's the noun.
n
1. a remark, criticism, or observation
2. talk or gossip
3. (Literary & Literary Critical Terms) a note explaining or criticizing a passage in a text
4. (Literary & Literary Critical Terms) explanatory or critical matter added to a text

Commentator to me is a sports commentator. So that's not the same.

Commentors isn't a word.

The commenter is the word for people who wants to make a remark message to others.

I am not sure why some people are questioning the functionality and feasibility of the wall. They said the wall barrier wouldn’t work on the southern border. But, If we don’t build the wall or fence then what should we do? Should we just leave the border open and let criminals cross the border without a security check?

Some people said that the illegal immigrants would dig tunnels under the wall. We know that so we will work out a solution to block the tunnels during construction. The steel fence or wall could go under ground deeper to prevent that. Digging a long tunnel is not an easy job for illegals. It is dangerous because the tunnel may collapse at any time when the rain comes. Also, digging a tunnel under the wall base is a criminal offense.  The offenders will be jailed.

If we don’t come up a better solution then we should not object the current solution [the wall solution]. USA is a country and a country must have a border security. I will not like a stranger who get in my house without asking my permission. So do you?
