In recent years, some Operating Systems are tending to adapt "Autorotate Function" for pictures and photos. This function makes the sideway pictures looking upright on the phone and the browser. However, in original posture it is still sideway. If we drop the upright photo on professional image tools luke Paintshop or Photoshop, it is still shown up sideway as original sideway. The autorotate function seems like a good idea for a group of people but it can be very confusing for other group of people. For instance, photographers, graphic designers and programmers may not be aware the autorotated pictures that is actually sideway until they upload the pictures to the websites. It causes confusing.
The best way to do this could be that we stop the autorotate function and on somewhere we put down a selection button for the users to manually choose its status to rotate or not to rotate. In this way, for people who like to rotate their photos they can choose this function, otherwise the autorotate function is disabled by default . The bottom line is we must have a button to enable or to disable this function.
The best customer service is to let people choose what they like to do. They have rights to choose the new function or not to choose. Many people do not like the autorotate of photos so why we autorotate for them? A new function we may think it is a good idea but it also could be a bad idea to others. :)
