On Monday, A biotech CEO Bryan Kobe filed a lawsuit against the Uber company for allowing illegal immigrants to work as its drivers that puts extreme dangers to the riders!
Bryan Kobe and his dog both were assaulted by the Uber driver Uliumdzhiev Vadim Nikolaevich who is an illegal immigrant from Russia in downtown Charleston, South Carolina!
Although both Uber and Lyft claim to have vetting protocols for hiring drivers, including background checks, there is still risk to using ride sharing services: The drivers of Uber and Lyft are not strictly required to submit proof of U.S. citizenship (U.S. Passport or birth certificate), undergo drug and alcohol testing, show a current, valid Driver's License, and pass a criminal background and Registry of Motor Vehicles check, then complete the full training. They usually don’t require their drivers to do an annual criminal and RMV check!
From 2017 to 2022, a total of 400,181 Uber trips resulted in reports of sexual assault and sexual misconduct in the United States, court documents show.
Every eight minutes at least one woman has been assaulted by the drivers on average!
From 2017 to 2018, 9 deaths were reported that was related to the riders!
From 2019 to 2020, there are 19 people died from assaults.
From 2017-2019, Ten people were killed in physical altercations and over 4,000 people were assaulted during Lyft rides, the company revealed in its first-ever safety report. Also during that period, 105 people died in fatal vehicle crashes involving a Lyft car.
Be aware : The background check is likely not enforced by both companies! illegal immigrants are allowed to driver their vehicles! Many assault cases have not been reported by the riders! It is believed that the actual assault cases are much higher than the number that has been reported! If you are a single female person, please avoid to take the risk of having cheap rides!
