This week, a 5-year-old girl was attacked and killed by her two own family's dogs in Covina , Los Angeles of California - a 10 year old Rottweiler and a 6 year old Rottweiler mix.
According to the National Center for Health Statistics, an average of 43 deaths in the United States were attacked by dogs annually!
The National Pet Owners Survey shows that there are 89.7 million dogs in the US in 2023. In a statistics published by The National and Medical Study, it reported that a probability on dog bite incidence is 1/50 chance each year! If that is the case, then 1.8 million Americans are bitten by dogs every year!
However, the real number is much higher than that. On a research of Langley, Ricky’s stud in 2009, around 4.5 million Americans are bitten by dogs every year! Among this huge number, 800,000 severe injuries are seeking treatment from doctors!
Dogs not only cause morbidity and mortality as a result of bites, but they may also transmit zoonotic infections, which may also result in illness or death.
